Funeral this weekend for abused 4-year-old girl, Gabrielle Barrett

(Photo: Leah Barrett)Visitation and a funeral service have been scheduled this weekend for Gabrielle Barrett, a 4-year-old Sumpter Township girl who died last week after suffering severe burns. A public visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Uht Funeral Home in Westland, said Jerry Barrett, Gabrielle's grandfather. A funeral service, just for family and friends, will be on Sunday. Barrett said members of the public who were impacted by what happened to Gabrielle are welcome to attend Saturday's visitation. "There's a lot of people that have seen the case on the news, social media, Facebook. … and a lot of comments that we've received, and a lot of people that don’t even know us have showed their support and are sorry that this happened to our family," Barrett said. Read more:On Jan. 1, police found Gabrielle unresponsive in the bathroom of her home in the Rawsonville Woods Mobile Home Community. She had severe burns and bruises all over her body. Gabrielle's mother, Candice Diaz, 24, and the mother’s boyfriend, Brad Fields, 28, were arrested Tuesday afternoon near Lake Park, Ga.
